Rose Cottage

Matt had an afternoon gig at Rose Cottage, it was a beautiful day for it too, I took the boys and they had a great time, although for a moment there I thought I’d lost Griffin, I found him in the dance company building next door watching tv. I think I had every reason to panic because there was a highway and a duck pond just over the fence. Saxon was the star of the day, he danced and played in amongst the band and during a break Matt jammed “Rocky Mountain Way” with Saxon on the drumkit and he did a great job. At the end of each song Sax would read a song off the set list or ask Dad to play Led Zeppelin, at one point Griff was asked what song would he like to hear and he wanted “shout at the devil by Motley Crue”, unfortunately the band didn’t know how to play that so they played Van Halen for him instead. We had a fun afternoon and we are looking forward to the next time. I asked the boys which song did they like today and Griff liked “Smoke on the water” and Saxon liked “The Immigrant Song”.

For The Love Of Steve Vai

Saxon’s day didn’t go so well today, a major anxiety attack this morning over the idea of going to visit Aunty Ruth while Griffin had his grading. Unfortunately telling him a little too early backfired on us and once he reached his threshold it was all over. Gotta feel for the little guy, he really wants to go to Taikidokai but he’s still too young to join in. When we arrived at Ruth’s there were more tears but from all reports he settled quickly and he was very relieved when we picked him up, we were greeted with a huge hug and “you saved me, I am safe”, how to make Aunty Ruth feel bad! The interesting stuff happened when I got the boys home, Griff went straight to his headquarters to play games, nothing new there. Saxon however started watching whatever was already in the dvd player but after 5 minutes he put on his alien love secrets dvd by Steve Vai and watched it curled up under a blanket with me for hours, he hasn’t done this for a while, everything has been running smoothly as far as his anxieties have gone, A major anxiety attack and it’s straight back to Steve Vai.

Orange Tip

Griffin has his grading today, he is now an orange tip. he did so well at his karta and sat so quietly while he waited for everyone else to have their turn, such an improvement in his ability to cope in that type of situation, he has worked hard and deserved to be rewarded for his efforts. Well done Griff…… now where’s my needle and thread?

Meet Toby

I had a quick photo shoot with our next door neighbour’s brand new baby boy this afternoon. He is the sweetest little guy weighing in at 9 pounds 6 ounces, he’s just 4 days old still all smooshy and sleepy.

Tattoo’s

I took the boys to a local school fete, Saxon said he wanted a tattoo and he chose an Australian flag, Griff wanted the flag too. Easy. No. Saxon changed his mind last second and I made him go through with it. A major anxiety attack ensued, I shouldn’t done that I know but Oh well, he cried as if he was in agony until we got home when he realized that he could scratch it off with his fingernails! His arm was bright red, I had to put him in the bath to calm him down and wash the rest off with soap, gently.
