He Plays The Drums

Today was his first lesson with Ben and you know what? it couldn’t have gone better. Happy to say hello, walk right in the door, no worries and straight on the drumkit. The lesson lasted half an hour and so did he, just goes to show, if he’s interested he’ll concentrate. I was so happy with how it all went, there was very little in the way of preparing him, no social story, no meeting with Ben beforehand, although we did talk about playing drums with Ben yesterday and he was okay with that. I really thought it was time for him to have an after school activity and he has been teaching himself to play the drums from watching concert dvd’s to the point where he really needed to be taught correct technique. So glad it turned out I was right.

Eddie Monster Lives Here

It’s Saturday and Saxon tries to get up to as much mischief as he can on Saturdays. He likes to draw on himself and then immediately gets upset and needs to wash it off. Today is an Iron Maiden day and if he hasn’t been watching the dvd and playing his drumkit, he’s playing his guitar along to his cd player or he’s chasing us around the house pretending to be Eddie Monster or a ghost. Griffin is smart, he stays down the other end of the house away from the noise. He likes Iron Maiden though and will come out of his room to dance to his favourite song which at the moment seems to be Aces High. Silly Troopers.

It’s just tapping

Saxon was dancing around the loungeroom while he watched an Extreme video clip, when I said
“Look Saxon watch the guitar solo”. His reply “That’s not a guitar solo it’s just tapping”
He’s five years old and already coming out with comments like this.
Gotta Laugh.

Breathing Hard

Saxon spent last night and most of today at the hospital with an asthma attack. Griffin’s nickname for Saxon at the moment is Trooper and although his reasons are purely Star Wars related I think it suits him perfectly. Matt took Saxon to emergency around midnight and they weren’t admitted until 7 am this morning. when I got to the hospital this morning they both looked tired, Matt hadn’t slept more than 45 minutes and Saxon was exhausted from breathing hard all night. I got to spend the day with him watching movies while he slowly recovered, by 5 pm we were home and Matt was fast asleep on the couch. not even Iron Maiden dvd’s played loud could wake him up.
Tomorrow will be a rest day.
Happy birthday Kirsty!
