John Mayer

Our John Mayer story goes like this……

Matt and I went to Sydney for a few days without the kids just before the school holidays. We stayed at the Holiday Inn across the road from the entertainment centre. We were almost there when Matt took a wrong turn and ended up on a one way street. It probably only delayed us from getting to the hotel by about five minutes. We park out the front of the hotel, Matt checks in and there is a sign out the front reads, hotel carpark full. Matt says “see that car parked in front of us?, that’s the last carpark, we would have made it if I didn’t take that wrong turn.” So we drive around to the carpark behind the entertainment centre grab our bags and start walking back to the hotel. On our way down the stairs I noticed something going on out the back on the entertainment centre, “Matt that’s John Mayer” he had just arrived for soundcheck, we didn’t even know he was playing!, we had tickets to Rodriguez (who? I hear you say, that’s a whole other story.) The camera was packed away in a bag but we managed to find it just in time to get this shot, ha! We were so proud of ourselves, just think if Matt hadn’t taken that wrong turn…..

Easter

We headed down the coast for easter and we got as far as Bungendore when Griff asked ‘are we there yet?” i am pretty sure this is the first time he has ever said this. i was so excited, i said to Matt ” do you remember when we wondered if he would ever say anything like that at all?” We had a good laugh about it to think the backseat used to be very quiet and now we play I spy games. We are so happy to be playing i spy even if it’s always the same few things, i spy something black (shadows), tall (tree), green (tree), vertical log (tree), white (clouds) etc.

Griffin loved the beach. He played for the longest time crashing in the waves and swimming in the shallow water. A whole new thing for him considering he’s not usually comfortable in waves at the beach.

The easter bunny didn’t forget the boys this year but because it was raining he left the eggs through the motel instead of outside in the garden. Saxon was very impressed and suprised to find eggs in “the shoes!”

sunrise easter sunday

Griffin really loved Grandads “trophy chair” he was very impressed that the chair was surrounded by the trophies that matt won riding horses, he sat down next to grandad and said ” i like your trophy seat” and Grandad probably thought griff was keen for a chat but he pushed him off the chair and then asked for the trophy he wanted to hold and just sat there beaming while he held onto the trophy.

What’s been going on?

Saxon likes our bed, he can be found there every night. Sometimes he sneaks in when we are not there and just makes himself comfortable, sometimes he can be heard walking down the hall and last night i heard him shout “no” in his sleep then bolt down the hall and fly into our bed. This will all stop during the school holidays. We are committed to getting him out of our bed. He doesn’t know yet. He will find out soon enough. He won’t like it. sausage rolls are evil

kfc is good

The piano has been getting a good workout since it’s arrival a couple of weeks ago, Sax has figured out how to programme it ( i did actually catch him reading the manual, seriously!) he is making up songs and little melodys so we will have to find a piano teacher soon because he is loving it.

Took Saxon shopping last night while Matt and Griff were at Taikedokai and this is what he insisted on choosing to buy. He hugged them at the supermarket, carried them home and put them in his school bag ready for the next day. The boy loves his carrots. He loves bunnies too. When i asked what a bunny was he replied “chocolate”. He has been watching Wallace and Gromit again which has renewed his interest in rabbits.
